Data sources & attribution
atmos.today aggregates and processes air quality measurements from public open-data sources, calculates the US EPA Air Quality Index, and republishes the result under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
Upstream sources
- Aggregated ground sensor measurements from government and research networks worldwide (source). License: CC-BY-4.0.
- Satellite + atmospheric model fusion as fallback when ground sensors are unavailable (source). License: CC-BY-4.0.

Data on atmos.today, including the public JSON API at /api/aqi, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0) license.
You may freely copy, redistribute, transform, and build upon the data for any purpose, including commercial, provided you give appropriate credit and indicate if changes were made.
Required attribution
When using atmos.today data publicly, please include a clearly visible credit such as:

Linking to the source URL where the reading appears is appreciated where format allows.
Modifications
atmos.today applies the following transformations to upstream readings: pollutant value normalization to common units, US EPA Air Quality Index calculation using the breakpoint formula, category labeling (Good through Hazardous), and 30-minute caching. See methodology for full detail.
